1.26 mi[1] (2.03 km) |
County Route 232 (CR 232) is an east–west 1.26 miles (2.03 km) highway in the central-western part of the town of Amherst. It starts at an intersection with US 62 at the Amherst–Tonawanda town line just across from Ellicott Creek Park. The road travels east from here, following Ellicott Creek Road as it runs along the north side of Ellicott Creek. It intersects no other roads until it ends at an intersection with Sweet Home Road. At this point, Sweet Home Road shifts from state maintenance as unsigned NY 952T south of CR 232 to county maintenance as CR 301 north of CR 232. Ellicott Creek Road itself continues beyond the intersection but ends at a circle.
The entire length of CR 232 was designated as part of New York State Route 356 until that designation was removed on January 7, 1988. Prior to the construction of Interstate 990, Ellicott Creek Road continued to the intersection of Dodge (CR 45) and North Forest Roads (CR 294) just beyond the current expressway.

At the point where it passes under the Thruway, Cayuga Road becomes residential in nature with some apartment buildings, a church, and many stately late nineteenth and early twentieth century homes along with many beautiful large trees.
